
New Delhi, May 21: On the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Congress leaders gathered at his memorial, ‘Veer Bhoomi,’ near Raj Ghat in the national capital on Thursday morning to pay their respects. Senior party members commemorated his contributions to the nation.
Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were among the prominent leaders who visited Veer Bhoomi to honor Rajiv Gandhi. The party’s National President Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tribute at the memorial.
On this occasion, Alka Lamba, President of the Women’s Congress, laid flowers at Rajiv Gandhi’s memorial. Congress leaders Jagdish Tytler and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also remembered him at Veer Bhoomi. Additionally, senior Congress figures Mukul Wasnik, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Ajay Kumar Lallu, and P. Chidambaram offered their respects to the former Prime Minister.
Devendra Yadav, President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, shared a post remembering Rajiv Gandhi, stating, “On the sacrifice day of Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi, the architect of the information revolution and Panchayati Raj, we pay our respects. His remarkable contributions to making India a strong and empowered nation will always be remembered.”
Congress MP Sukdev Bhagat expressed, “On his death anniversary, I respectfully pay homage to Rajiv Gandhi, the pioneer of Panchayati Raj and the information revolution, and a role model for the youth of modern India.”
Ramesh Chennithala, a minister in the Kerala government, remarked, “On the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, I pay my heartfelt tributes. His visionary leadership, dedication to the nation, and ideals will continue to inspire the Congress family. Rajiv Ji was my leader, and everything I am today is thanks to his guidance. If he were here today, our fate would have been different. Not a day goes by that I don’t remember him.”
