Transform Sanjay Gandhi National Park to woo tourists: Thackeray

Pune, Apr 11 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday directed the Forest Department officials to immediately prepare a development plan for changing the face of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park to attract tourists from around the world. Speaking at a meeting on SGNP held at official Varsha bungalow in Mumbai, he said that efforts should be made to bring animals and birds from various parks of the world to Sanjay Gandhi National Park to attract tourists. Rare animals such as black panthers, white lions and birds should be brought to the park, he said and suggested to arrange tiger and leopard safaris also. All necessary facilities, including modern toilets, should be provided for the tourists in this park, he said. He suggested that activities should be created here in this park so that the citizens of Mumbai can enjoy them. Among the activities that can be set up here include children’s park and boating, he also suggested. The Chief Minister further said that a museum of different species of snakes with detail information should be set up in the park. Furthermore, a holographic projector should be installed in the park, Thackeray added. SP SS 1750
