Jaipur, May 2: A heartbreaking incident has emerged just before the NEET-UG 2026 examination. On Saturday morning, a 20-year-old student preparing for the medical entrance exam took his own life in Kota, Rajasthan. The student has been identified as Dikshit Prasad, who was residing in the Kunhadi area for his exam preparations.
According to police reports, he allegedly jumped from the roof of his hostel just a day before the exam, which is scheduled for May 3. Authorities were alerted to the situation in the morning. Originally from Uttarakhand, Dikshit was living in a hostel under the jurisdiction of the Kunhadi police station while preparing for NEET-UG. His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the local community and among fellow students.
Police officials arrived at the scene promptly and took custody of the body, which has been sent for post-mortem examination. So far, no suicide note has been found. Investigators are exploring all possible angles, including exam-related stress and other personal issues. The student’s family has been notified, and the post-mortem will take place once they arrive. The family is devastated by this tragic loss.
The NEET-UG 2026 examination is set for May 3. In light of this event, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued important guidelines to help candidates avoid last-minute issues at the exam centers.
In a public notice released on Thursday, the agency provided an advisory detailing the dress code and permissible items for the exam. The NTA has urged all candidates to carefully follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth and hassle-free examination process.
According to the instructions, candidates are only allowed to bring transparent water bottles into the exam hall. The agency has also clarified that items related to religious beliefs can be brought under certain conditions. Candidates wearing religious or belief-related items must arrive early to allow sufficient time for proper screening at the exam center.
