Tragic Road Accident in Valsad Claims Lives of Seven Family Members

Valsad, February 20: A devastating road accident occurred on the Kaparda–Nanaponda Highway near Kumbhghat in Valsad district, Gujarat, resulting in the deaths of seven family members. Police reported the incident on Friday.

According to authorities, the deceased were residents of Amba Jungle village in Kaparda taluka. At the time of the accident, the car was carrying seven people, including five men and two women.

The collision took place at a sharp turn in Kumbhghat, an area previously identified as accident-prone by officials. The impact between the truck and the car was so severe that the vehicle was extensively damaged, trapping the occupants inside.

Local residents rushed to the scene upon hearing the crash and initiated rescue operations. Emergency services assisted in extricating the injured, who were then transported to a nearby hospital.

Police stated that five individuals died at the scene. Two men, who were critically injured, succumbed to their injuries later at the hospital, raising the death toll to seven.

Inspector Suraj Singh Vasava confirmed, “There were seven people in the car, including five men and two women. Five died on the spot. The two men taken to the hospital also passed away. This route has a history of accidents, often involving trucks.”

The truck driver was also injured and is currently receiving treatment. Police have not yet recorded his statement, making it unclear whether the accident was due to driver negligence or other factors.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, and legal proceedings are underway. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact causes of the accident.
