Tragic Road Accident in Gazipur Claims Three Lives, Including Two-Month-Old Baby

Gazipur, June 7: A devastating road accident occurred on Sunday in the Sharifpur area of the Saidpur police station in Gazipur district. Three members of the same family lost their lives in the incident. A speeding bus collided with a motorcycle carrying the family, resulting in the immediate deaths of two women and their two-month-old baby girl. The father and their one-year-old daughter sustained injuries in the crash.

According to reports, Pratik Giri, a resident of Shahpur village in the Adalhat police station area of Mirzapur district, was returning home with his wife Kajal Giri, their two-month-old daughter Shejal, one-year-old daughter Shreya, and sister-in-law Ritu Devi from Azamgarh. As they approached the highway underpass in Sharifpur, a fast-moving passenger bus struck their motorcycle from behind.

Eyewitnesses stated that the impact caused all motorcycle riders to fall onto the road. Due to the bus’s high speed, the driver lost control and ran over Kajal and Ritu Devi, who had fallen on the road. Tragically, the two-month-old Shejal, who was in Kajal’s arms, also died at the scene.

Pratik Giri and his one-year-old daughter Shreya were injured and were immediately admitted to the community health center in Saidpur. Police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report and managed to stop the bus near the police station. The bus was seized, and the driver was taken into custody.

It has been reported that Ritu Devi, one of the deceased, had no children of her own. The news of the accident sent shockwaves through the family and relatives, prompting them to rush to Saidpur.

City SP Rakesh Kumar Mishra confirmed that the motorcycle riders, including two women and a two-month-old baby, died after being hit by the bus. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and legal action is underway against the bus and its driver.
