Hyderabad, May 5: The Tamil film industry is mourning the loss of producer R.B. Chaudhary, father of Tamil star Jiiva, who tragically passed away in a car accident near Udaipur. The news of his death, which occurred on Tuesday, has sent shockwaves through the cinema community.
On the same day, Malayalam actor Santhosh K. Nair also lost his life in a separate car accident. The simultaneous deaths of two film personalities have left the industry in deep sorrow. R.B. Chaudhary had been producing films under the banner of ‘Super Good Films’ since 1988. His first Tamil film, ‘Pudhu Vasantham,’ marked the directorial debut of Vikram and earned him a Tamil Nadu State Film Award.
He also supported K.S. Ravikumar’s first film, ‘Puriyadha Pudhir.’ His extensive filmography includes notable titles such as ‘Cheran Pandian,’ ‘Urmariyadhai,’ ‘Gokulam,’ ‘Nattamai,’ ‘Sundar Purushan,’ ‘Mr. Romeo,’ ‘Suriyavansham,’ ‘Anandham,’ ‘Keerthi Chakra,’ ‘District,’ ‘Godfather,’ and the recent release ‘Marison.’ R.B. Chaudhary contributed memorable films to Tamil cinema for decades.
There is currently no information regarding the condition of others involved in the accident. R.B. Chaudhary’s funeral will be held soon in Chennai. He is survived by his wife Mahjabeen and sons Jiiva, Ramesh, and Ashok.
Archana Kalpathi of AGS Entertainment expressed her condolences on the social media platform X, stating, “I am shocked to hear that R.B. sir is no longer with us. The industry has lost a legendary producer who gave us many blockbuster films. He was a wonderful person. May God give his family the strength to bear this loss.”
The team of film producer B.A. Raju also expressed their sorrow, stating that Indian cinema has lost a giant whose contributions will always be remembered. They wrote, “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of producer R.B. Chaudhary in a car accident in Udaipur. His immense contribution to Indian cinema, particularly through decades of memorable films, will never be forgotten. This is an irreplaceable loss for the film industry. Our condolences to his family and loved ones.”
