Lucknow, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : A shocking incident unfolded in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where a young man tragically died during a Home Guard recruitment run. The victim has been identified as Yogendra Singh, 25. Following the incident, the local police station registered a case and initiated an investigation.
On September 15, during the run at the 35th PAC Ground in the city, Yogendra reportedly collapsed. The post-mortem report later indicated that the cause of death was asphyxiation due to a plastic water bottle obstructing his throat.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikrant Veer, Yogendra’s health deteriorated immediately after the run, necessitating his transfer to Balrampur Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Yogendra hailed from Madiya Rahimpur village in the Ramapur police area of Sitapur.
The police conducted the necessary formalities, including the preparation of a Panchanama and a post-mortem, which was documented through video. On September 19, based on a complaint from the victim’s brother, Kamal Kishore, a murder case was filed at the local police station.
In response to the incident, police officials have formed a five-member team to investigate. This team is currently reviewing CCTV footage, gathering eyewitness statements, and collecting other evidence.
Kamal Kishore has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding his brother’s death, particularly how a water bottle could have caused such a tragic outcome. He is demanding a fair investigation and justice, suggesting that a higher-level agency should oversee the inquiry.
