Tragic Biker Death Sparks Outrage Over Administrative Failures

New Delhi, February 8: Congress leader Udit Raj responded on Sunday to the tragic death of a biker who fell into a pit in Janakpuri. He attributed the incident to administrative failure and questioned the accountability of the Delhi government.

Speaking to a news agency, Udit Raj stated, “This was an accident, but like always, the matter will fade away without any action. People forget such incidents. It has been a year since the BJP government took over. The potholes were left by the Aam Aadmi Party government, but now the BJP should assess how much improvement has been made.”

His comments came amid growing anger over the death of 25-year-old biker Kamal Dhyani, who fell into an open pit dug by Delhi Jal Board officials while returning home from work on Thursday night. New information from the FIR revealed serious lapses in safety measures at the project site.

According to the FIR, the pit, dug under a Delhi Jal Board project, was left open on the main road without any warning signs, reflectors, barricades, lighting, or safety arrangements, posing a severe risk to travelers. The lack of basic safety precautions raised questions about the negligence and accountability of the involved agencies.

Police records indicate that on Friday (February 6), around 8:03 AM, a woman made a PCR call to the Janakpuri police station, reporting that a biker had fallen into a deep pit in Block B-3B. Following the information, a team from the Delhi police arrived at the scene, where they found a young man and his bike lying in the pit.

The pit measured approximately 20 feet long, 13 feet wide, and 14-15 feet deep. Initial investigations revealed that the excavation was part of ongoing work by the water board. The young man was rescued from the pit and taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
