Tragic Accidents in Andhra Pradesh Claim Lives and Injure Many

Visakhapatnam, February 8: Two people lost their lives, and five others were injured in a tragic accident in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. The incident occurred when a car collided with a parked vehicle on the national highway near Palavalasa in the Nandigam mandal.

According to police reports, the car was en route from Sonpur, Odisha, to Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The accident happened while a patient named Balayya was being transported by his family for treatment. Both Balayya and another passenger traveling with him were killed in the crash. The five injured individuals were taken to the government hospital in Tekkalik. One of the injured is in critical condition and has been referred to Srikakulam for further treatment. Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

In a separate incident, nine passengers were injured in a head-on collision between an RTC bus and a truck in the Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh. This accident took place on the national highway near Gutturu in the Penukonda mandal. The bus, operated by the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), was struck by a truck while traveling from Hindupur to Dharmapuram, with the truck heading towards Bengaluru.

All injured passengers were admitted to the government hospital in Penukonda. The bus conductor, who sustained serious injuries, was given first aid at the Penukonda hospital before being transferred to Anantapur.

Upon learning about the accident, S. Savita, the Minister for Welfare of Backward Classes, visited the Penukonda hospital to meet the injured. She instructed hospital officials to ensure the best possible treatment for all patients.

Earlier, on Saturday night, a car caught fire in Vijayawada. Fortunately, there were no casualties. According to police, the fire broke out suddenly near the Anjaneyaswamy temple after midnight. Firefighters arrived promptly after being alerted by passersby and extinguished the flames.
