Panaji, April 7 : Goa Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh on Thursday said that traffic regulation besides maintaining law and order will be his priority in the coming days. Speaking to reporters after taking over the charge of the office, he said,”As the days go I will interact with my officers, understand the dynamics of crime and law and order and will try to formulate strategies.” ”Goa is an iconic state receiving a large number of tourists. I, with my team, will put in our best efforts to ensure that professionalism of police is exhibited to the foreigners as well as to the countrymen,” he said. After studying the profile and geometry of the roads in the state and accident patterns, we will formulate a stratgey to ensure that Goan roads are safe not only for the country people but also for foreigners. Large number of foreigners move on two wheelers. As Goan roads are excellent, some people try to take advantage,” he said. Singh, who started his career as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Goa, said the officers would enforce the traffic rules strictly. On chopper service to felicitate the accident victims, he said though he was not privy to the issue but will look into it.
