TN minister’s daughter meets Karnataka home minister, seeks protection

Bengaluru, Mar 9 : Tamil Nadu Minister P Sekar Babu’s daughter on Wednesday met Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra and sought police protection for herself and her husband. Prior to meeting the home minister, the newly-wed couple, Jayakalyani (24) and Sathish Kumar (27), met the Additional Police Commissioner and sought protection from Babu’s goons. Giving reason for seeking protection from the Karnataka government, she said she was not getting any help from Tamil Nadu police because her father is part of DMK government led by MK Stalin. She has sought protection from Karnataka police and Home Minister, out of fear that her father would kill both of them. Moreover, Jayakalyani alleged that her father’s goons were harassing her husband. They had visited Kumar’s transport office and broke the window panes and furniture. The goons also had visited many companies in Tamil Nadu requesting them not to hire his vehicles for logistical purposes, she alleged. The goons also visited Kumar’s house and broke the window panes, Jayakalayani said. “This incident has been captured by CCTV camera. And we have the visuals with us as proof,” she said. Jayakalyani said Kumar runs a transport business and she knew him for the last six years and fell in love, but her father wanted to marry her off to a millionaire Christian boy. “My husband is a major. I am 24 years old and he is 27. I left my house as per my wishes. Last time, when we came out of the house, my father was ready to file a kidnap case against my husband. When I interfered and told that if you do so, I will commit suicide. So, he did not do anything,” she alleged. The couple a couple of days back had tied the knot at Halaswamy Math in Raichur as per Hindu rituals. BDN SHK1922
