TMC Leader Kunal Ghosh Accuses BJP and Election Commission Over Voter List Issues

Kolkata, March 5: Kunal Ghosh, a leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has leveled serious accusations against the BJP and the Election Commission regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in West Bengal. He stated that the SIR list has caused another death, for which the Indian Election Commission and the BJP are responsible.

Ghosh claimed that the Election Commission is not functioning properly under BJP’s directives. He emphasized that the TMC, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stands with the people against this issue. The party is actively protesting on the streets and in court. Mamata Banerjee has also raised questions in the Supreme Court and announced plans to start a sit-in protest from Friday. He accused the Election Commission of deleting legitimate voters under BJP’s instructions.

Ghosh further alleged that the BJP is making every effort to defame Bengal. He stated that genuine voters are being systematically removed as part of a conspiracy. The messages written on walls for the elections are merely attempts to take photographs, yet the BJP fails to understand the messages themselves.

Commenting on BJP leaders visiting from other states before the elections, Ghosh remarked that they are often political tourists. They have the resources for hotel bookings and travel, and this has been a recurring pattern. He recalled that in 2021, they campaigned with the slogan “This time, over 200,” contesting 77 seats, which have now dwindled to 60. They also lost all district council seats in the 2023 Panchayat elections.

Ghosh did not spare the CPI(M), stating that it lacks a clear policy and acts as the BJP’s ‘B’ team. He noted that the percentage of votes for the BJP is now comparable to that of the leftists, whose influence has diminished. He asserted that the TMC has always been with the people under the leadership of Mamata DiDi and Abhishek Banerjee, while the leftists have never truly existed, remaining inactive.
