Rampurhat, March 30 : The Birbhum district police have arrested three more suspects in the murder of TMC run Panchayat’s deputy chief Bhadu Sheikh, which led to frenzy to his supporters and they set on fire on atleast ten houses in which nine people were burnt to death at Bogtui village on March 21. The Birbhum district police investigating the single murder have arrested three suspects, identified as Raja Sheikh, Shera Sheikh and Sanju Sheikh during a raid in several places of Malda, Rampurhat and the border area of Bengal-Jharkhand on Tuesday, police said on Wednesday. They had been on the run since the murder of Bhadu took place around 8 30 pm on March 21. With the arrest of the trio, district police have so far arrested four suspects in the Bhadu murder case so far. The trio would be produced before a court of law on Wednesday for judicial process, the official sources said. Bhadu was killed at a roadside tea stall by four suspects, who came into two-wheeler and lofted crude bomb on him and then fired several shots to ensure the end of the TMC panchayat leader, who was very influential politician of the area. Once he was declared dead at the Rampur government hospital, his followers allegedly in a frenzy act set fire to ten houses at Bogtui in the same evening and killed nine people, seven of them were women and a minor. Three others were receiving treatment at the hospital. The Calcutta high court has handed over the probe into the killing of the nine people to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The district police are investigating Bhadu Sheikh’s murder. CCTV footage showed Sheikh speaking on his phone on March 21 when four assailants on a motorbike hurled a crude bomb and shot him before fleeing. PC BM
