Bhubaneswar, April 5 : Three members of a family died and a child was admitted to hospital in critical condition after a van hit their motorcycle near Indanpur village under Gangapur Police station in Ganjam district on Tuesday. Police said all three died on the spot. Police identified the deceased as Jayaram Naik and his two daughters aged about 20 to 25 years. His seven-year-old grandson was seriously injured in the accident and taken to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital Berhampur. Tension prevailed in the area after the accident. Irate villagers blocked the Bhanjanagar-Berhampur road demanding adequate compensation for the family. Senior police officials have reached the spot and trying to diffuse the situation. Sources said the accident occurred when Jayaram Naik was returning to his native village Gangpur from M gadi with his two daughters and grandson on a motorcycle. The driver of the van was absconding after the accident and the Police are trying to nab him. BD ARN
