Three feared drown in Ganga

Kanpur, March 20 : Three persons were feared drowned while taking bath in Ganga river in Maharajpur area of the district. Police sources said Shyam Sunder (25), Dinesh (26), Sakshi (11), Kumkum (15), Arvind (10) and Shiva (11), all residents of Naya Khera hamlet of Nagapur village, went to take bath in Ganga river on Saturday. “While taking bath all of them slipped into deep water and started drowning. When they raised alarm farmers working on their fields along the banks of the river rushed and rescued Kumkum, Shiva and Arvind, but Dinesh Shyam Sunder and Sakshi went missing and remained untraced till Sunday noon,” police sources said. Divers of Maharajpur police and PAC are still trying to locate the three, they said. Meanwhile, caretaker Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, taking cognizance of the incident, has directed the district administration officials to reach the spot immediately and launch a rescue and relief operation.
