Ahmedabad, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : In Ahmedabad on Wednesday, authorities responded to bomb threats received by at least ten schools, prompting an early dismissal of students. The threats led to the deployment of police, fire department officials, and bomb detection and disposal teams at the affected school campuses.
Most of the targeted schools are located in the western part of the city. Following the threats, school administrators alerted local authorities, who dispatched security teams to conduct thorough checks at various locations.
Among the impacted institutions is Zydus School in the Vejalpur area. After receiving the threat, the school released students ahead of schedule, while police and fire department vehicles were sent to ensure safety on campus.
Schools began notifying parents about the early dismissal of their children. Meanwhile, officials are conducting security checks within the campuses, awaiting further details regarding the nature and source of the threats.
Other schools reportedly involved include Bodakdev School for Children, SGVP School, Sant Kabir School on Drive-In Road, and Asia School. The total number of affected schools is still being assessed, as officials remain on high alert.
This incident follows a series of similar threats in Ahmedabad in recent months. In September, bomb threats were emailed to ten schools, three courts, and the Gujarat Assembly. Security checks at that time revealed no suspicious items, leading to those threats being deemed hoaxes.
In January, at least 16 schools in Ahmedabad district received bomb threat emails, prompting a coordinated response from the Special Operations Group, bomb detection and disposal squads, and dog units. During those investigations, no suspicious objects were found.
On Wednesday, as the bomb threats emerged, students were sent home early, and investigations intensified, with police and safety teams actively engaged on the school grounds.
