Those not adhering to party discipline can go: Warns Trinamool Chief

Kolkata, Mar 8 : West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday issued a stern warning to some leaders who were not “adhering to party discipline. Addressing the party’s extended organizational meeting at Nazrul Mancha here, Banerjee said without naming anyone, “No matter how greata leader is, if he does not adhere to party discipline, he will be expelled from the party.” “There are three-four leaders who are only thinking about their own publicity. They are telling the media whatever they feel like. Already, three-four such leaders have been cautioned,” Banerjee said. She added, “We have to work for the Trinamool by following its ideals and values. Everybody has to obey instructions. The door is open for those who do not obey. You can go”. In an interesting development, poll strategist Prashant Kishor shared the stage with the Trinamool supremo and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee in the meeting. This happened amidst speculations of worsening – or even snapping – of ties between Trinamool and Kishor’s organisation I-PAC, which is largely credited for the state’s ruling party’s victory in last year’s Assembly polls. Meanwhile, Banerjee announced that Subrata Bakshi would be the president of the state t. The panel has a number of vice-presidents, including Amit Mitra, Derek O Brien, Jay Prakash Majumdar (who joined the party only on Tuesday after his suspension from the BJP), Saugata Roy, Sovandeb Chatterjee and film actors Shatabdi Roy and Dev. Banerjee also reconstituted the disciplinary committee, by including Abhishek Banerjee. At the meeting, the TMC supremo replaced party presidents in five districts. Trinamool Lok Sabha leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay has been made the president of the North Kolkata district., The present president Tapas Roy has been given the post of co-chairman of the state committee. Kallol Khan, a six-time MLA from Nakashipara in Nadia district, has been brought in as the president of Krishnanagar district BM SSP
