This tree, beloved by Lord Krishna, is not only visually stunning but also has flowers, fruits, and bark filled with medicinal qualities. The Kadam is a large, evergreen tree.
Its most distinctive feature is its fragrant, round, soft yellow flowers that spread a sweet aroma from afar. Due to their scent and beauty, these flowers are considered favorites of Lord Krishna. The department believes that the Kadam tree is a remarkable blend of beauty, health, medicinal properties, and spirituality.
The Kadam is also beneficial for health, offering numerous remarkable advantages. Both the flowers and fruits of the Kadam are edible. Local traditions use these flowers and fruits to create delicious chutneys and other traditional dishes. The Kadam is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and other nutrients. Regular consumption strengthens the digestive system and provides relief from stomach issues like indigestion and diarrhea.
Additionally, it purifies the blood and alleviates skin-related problems. The Kadam is also beneficial for oral health; rinsing with its bark can reduce gum issues and bad breath.
In Ayurveda, the bark, leaves, and flowers of the Kadam are used to treat problems such as fever, diabetes, inflammation, and stress reduction. A decoction made from its flowers is considered beneficial for sore throats and coughs.
