Hyderabad, May 3: Telangana’s Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated on Sunday that the state government is committed to fulfilling all promises made in its election manifesto. He emphasized that the government is systematically delivering on its commitments to farmers.
Reddy claimed that the ‘farmer-friendly’ government is implementing various programs to meet its assurances. He highlighted that the procurement of paddy and maize crops is being conducted at minimum support prices, with payments credited to farmers’ accounts within a week.
Speaking at a Praja Darbar event in Khammam district, he reminded attendees that the government has waived crop loans up to ₹2 lakh for 2.5 million farmers. Additionally, financial assistance under the Rythu Bandhu scheme has been increased to ₹12,000 per acre.
The government is also providing a bonus of ₹500 per quintal for high-quality paddy. A subsidy distribution program for agricultural equipment is scheduled to take place from May 5 to 7.
Reddy announced that under the Praja Palana initiative, farmer festivals are being organized, with plans to distribute subsidized agricultural equipment to farmers in Warangal on May 5, 6, and 7. He urged farmers to take advantage of this opportunity.
He also noted that the establishment of a Farmers’ Commission occurred after the Congress government came to power in Telangana. Criticizing the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, he accused them of handcuffing farmers in Khammam who demanded support prices. He claimed that the previous administration attempted to deceive farmers with false promises while failing to provide agricultural equipment subsidies during their decade-long rule.
Reddy concluded by stating that the goal of the people’s government is to eliminate the need for citizens to visit government offices for problem resolution. Instead, officials are reaching out directly to the public, collecting petitions, and addressing issues on-site.
