Telangana Congress Chief Challenges KTR to Drug Test Amid Controversy

Hyderabad, March 15: Mahesh Kumar Goud, the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), has challenged K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the executive president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), to undergo a drug test.

Goud stated that all Congress MLAs and MLCs are prepared to take drug tests during the upcoming assembly session starting Monday. He questioned whether KTR and all BRS legislators would also be willing to participate in the test.

He accused the BRS government of facilitating a significant increase in drug use within the state. Goud’s comments followed police raids on a farmhouse in Moinabad, owned by former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy, where a drug party was allegedly taking place. Reddy’s drug test reportedly returned a positive result, raising suspicions about KTR and his supporters.

In a statement to the media, Goud emphasized that the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) conducted the raids as part of their responsibilities, asserting that there was no political motive behind the actions.

The TPCC chief noted that Chief Minister K. Revanth Reddy is committed to creating a drug-free Telangana, and the EAGLE’s raids are part of this initiative.

Congress MLC Balmoor Venkata staged a protest in Hyderabad with his supporters, burning an effigy of KTR and chanting “No Drug No KTR.” He challenged KTR to take a drug test and make the results public, claiming that KTR’s supporters and family members are involved in drug-related issues. Venkata suggested that KTR should suspend Rohit Reddy from the party to prove his integrity.

Congress MLA Manohar Reddy remarked that while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is working towards a drug-free Telangana, the BRS is allegedly promoting drug use. He pointed out that Rohit Reddy has previously been implicated in drug cases in Bengaluru and Dubai.

On Saturday night, the EAGLE team conducted a raid at the farmhouse in Moinabad, where six individuals, including TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar and Rohit Reddy, tested positive for drugs. The team handed over these individuals to the Moinabad police, and they are expected to be presented before a magistrate later today.
