Pune, February 26: Political analyst Tehseen Poonawala addressed recent remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump during his State of the Union address. Poonawala noted that the information Trump shared with both houses of Congress was already known to India.

In his speech, President Trump claimed that during the conflict between India and Pakistan in May 2025, the life of Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was in danger. He suggested that without U.S. intervention, the situation could have worsened. Trump stated, “The Prime Minister of Pakistan himself acknowledged that 35 million people could die,” and credited himself with averting war. However, India has consistently clarified that Operation Sindoor was conducted independently, without any third-party mediation. The conflict concluded on May 10 through direct communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of both countries.

In an interview with a news agency, Poonawala emphasized, “We know that on May 10, Pakistan’s DGMO called India’s DGMO to request a halt to Operation Sindoor. Trump’s statement confirms that India was aware of Pakistan’s vulnerabilities beforehand. Shahbaz Sharif’s life could have been at risk during Operation Sindoor, as Indian forces executed precise strikes on terrorist bases in Pakistan.”

Poonawala praised the success of the Indian armed forces, stating, “Regardless of our political ideologies, we must salute India’s intelligence, Air Force, Navy, Army, and all armed forces. The success of Operation Sindoor was remarkable. India brought Pakistan to its knees.”

He issued a stern warning to Pakistan, saying, “A clear message to Pakistan—if you attempt to take the life of even one Indian in our country, India will not forgive you. We will retaliate within your territory.” Poonawala referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that “for every bullet, there will be a bullet.” He added, “If you kill our people, we will not spare your Prime Minister.”
