Chennai, May 18: The Tamil Nadu government is prioritizing the reopening of schools following the summer break. Chief Minister Vijay convened a crucial meeting at the Secretariat in Chennai with Education Minister Raj Mohan and senior officials to discuss preparations.
Schools are set to reopen soon, and results for the 10th-grade examinations will be announced in the coming days. During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the preparations and discussed the operations of the School Education Department.
Officials also deliberated on upcoming programs and initiatives in the education sector. This discussion took place as Vijay initiated a series of administrative meetings with ministers after assuming office.
Vijay’s party, the TVK, received a decisive mandate in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, leading to his appointment as Chief Minister. Alongside him, nine ministers took their oaths and were recently assigned their portfolios.
Following the allocation of departments, CM Vijay conducted the first major internal review of the government, informing all ministers about administrative expectations and priorities. During this conversation, he reportedly advised ministers on how their departments should operate and emphasized the need for efficient governance and the immediate implementation of policies.
The Chief Minister also discussed the importance of the government’s comprehensive administrative approach and effective service delivery, as the new administration begins its work across various sectors.
After the discussions with CM Vijay, ministers held separate meetings with senior officials from their respective departments to review ongoing projects and identify immediate priorities.
Special attention was given to the School Education Department, as the new academic calendar is approaching, and it is essential to ensure smooth arrangements for students returning to classes after the summer break.
Education Minister Raj Mohan later engaged in detailed discussions with departmental officials regarding current programs and plans. The review meeting included senior officials such as the Secretary of School Education and the Director of School Education.
These initial discussions are seen as an effort by the new government to swiftly establish its administrative framework and set the governance direction for the Vijay administration’s first phase.
