Coimbatore, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay made a significant appearance in Coimbatore on September 30, 2026, as he campaigned for the Dharapuram Assembly by-election. His arrival was met with enthusiastic support from party workers and local residents, who gathered to welcome him.
Departing from Chennai via a private plane, Vijay traveled by road to Dharapuram in Tiruppur district, where he was scheduled to address a rally in support of the Tamilaga Vetrikazhagam (TVK) candidate, Satyabama. This marked his first visit to Coimbatore since taking office as Chief Minister.
Supporters lined the streets, eager to catch a glimpse of Vijay, even in the sweltering heat. The welcoming event was designed to attract supporters from Coimbatore and surrounding areas.
Upon arriving at the airport, Vijay engaged in discussions with district collectors and other officials. He then walked a short distance before boarding his campaign vehicle for the next leg of his journey.
Police maintained security along the route, setting up barricades to manage the crowd. Personnel were stationed to prevent supporters from crossing the road as the Chief Minister’s convoy made its way to the rally site.
Despite the barriers, a large crowd of party workers and the general public gathered along the streets, eagerly awaiting his arrival. The route from Coimbatore Airport to Dharapuram passed through several towns, including Chinnampalayam, Neelampur, Kaniyur, Karumathampatti, Somanoor, Karanampettai, and Palladam.
Vijay’s visit was focused on rallying support for Satyabama in the upcoming assembly by-election. The turnout reflected the excitement among locals, particularly those waiting along the roadside rather than at the rally site.
Officials indicated that after completing the rally and campaign activities in Dharapuram, Vijay would return to Chennai by private plane at 7 PM.
