Suspicious Balloon with PIA Marking Found in Rajouri, Investigation Underway

Mumbai, March 3: In Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, villagers spotted a red and white balloon shaped like an airplane in the Sarhoti area of the Dharmshal police station on Sunday. The balloon bore markings of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) along with some Urdu text, raising both curiosity and concern among locals.

The balloon was discovered in a sloping, rocky area near the village on Sunday afternoon. Upon noticing it, residents promptly alerted the police. A team from the Teriyath police quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area as a precaution.

Police officials inspected the balloon and took it into custody for preliminary investigation. It remains unclear where the balloon originated from and its intended purpose.

According to police sources, the matter is being treated with seriousness, and further inquiries have commenced. Authorities are gathering information regarding the balloon’s construction, the text written on it, and its possible source. Security agencies have also been alerted to address any potential threats swiftly.

Local police and administration have urged residents to report any suspicious objects or activities immediately and advised against handling such items themselves. Officials assured the public that the situation is under control and there is no cause for alarm.

Previously, a similar balloon marked with the PIA logo was found in Jammu city. This Pakistani balloon was discovered in the New Basti area, displaying the letters “PIA” in green. A police officer reported that the green and white balloon was found on the ground by BSF personnel stationed at a forward post. Intelligence agencies suggest that the purpose of such balloons may be to distract security forces and instill fear among civilians.
