Suspence continues over govt formation in Maharashtra despite a clear mandate for the BJP- Shiv Sena combine. Even though Monday saw political activity gaining momentum there was still no solution to the stalemate.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis met Amit Shah in New Delhi while NCP chief Sharad Pawar met interim congress chief Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi. Officially the meeting between Fadnavis and Shah was said to be over farmer issues but the political scenario in the state also figured in the discussions. This was the first meeting between Shah and Fadnavis after the assembly election results.
Monday also saw the Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut meeting State Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari.
Meanwhile the delay in govt formation is causing some stir in the opposition camp as well. Without explicitly saying it, the NCP indirectly indicated to being open to an alliance with the Shiv Sena even as it placed the ball in the Sena’s court as it said the proposal should come from the Sena.
Later, leaders of Shiv Sena and Congress also met Governor.
After a number of rapid developments the turmoil over govt formation in Maharashtra has finally reached Delhi. It now remains to be seen how the final picture shapes up and who finally steers the helm of this state.
