New Delhi : Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav has topped the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) T20 player rankings after scoring two half-centuries last week in the T20 World Cup 2022.
Yadav scored an unbeaten 51 off 25 balls against the Netherlands in Sydney and 68 off 40 balls against South Africa in Perth as he took the top spot, surpassing New Zealand’s Devon Conway and Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan.
Yadav is the 23rd player to top the T20 International batting rankings and only the second Indian after Virat Kohli to reach No. 1 in T20 cricket. Kohli spent 1,013 days at the helm from September 2014 to December 2017. Yadav has 863 ratings. Which is the second-highest score achieved by an Indian. Earlier in September 2014, Kohli had achieved the best score of 897.
New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips scored 104 against Sri Lanka and 62 against England, jumping five places to reach a career-best seventh position. At the same time, Riley Rossouw of South Africa entered the top 10 with 109 runs against Bangladesh. He jumped 17 places to reach a career-best eighth place.
England’s captain Jos Buttler’s 73 against New Zealand took him three places to 14th, while Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz (up four places to joint-17th), and South Africa’s David Miller (is up two places). 28th), Sri Lanka’s Bhanuka Rajapakse (up eight places to 29th), Bangladesh’s Liton Das (up two places to 36th) and Australia’s Mitchell Marsh (up two places to 31st) and Marcus Stoinis (up two places to 36th). In the rankings, Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (up three places to 18th), Pakistan pacer Mohammad Wasim (up one place to 21st), New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi (up three places to 22nd) and left-arm fast bowler Afghanistan K Fazlhaq Farooqui (up four places to joint-24th) and India’s Arshdeep Singh (up 16 places to 27th) have also jumped in the bowlers’ list.
