New Delhi, February 25: The Supreme Court has declined to hear a petition seeking a ban on the film ‘Yadav Ji Ki Love Story,’ which stars Pragati Tiwari, Vishal Mohan, Ankit Bardhana, and Sukhwinder Vicky. The petition aimed to halt the film’s title and release, claiming it could tarnish the image of the Yadav community.

The court firmly rejected the petition, stating that the film’s title does not harm the community’s reputation. Justices B.V. Nagarathna and Ujjwal Bhuiyan emphasized that the title does not contain any contentious elements akin to those found in ‘Ghooskhore Pandit.’ They clarified that a film’s title cannot be deemed unconstitutional merely because it raises concerns about potentially damaging a community’s image.

With the Supreme Court‘s ruling, the uncertainty surrounding the film’s release has been lifted. ‘Yadav Ji Ki Love Story‘ is set to hit theaters on February 27, just two days away. The film has faced backlash due to its title and storyline, which features a romantic relationship involving a Yadav community girl and a member of a different social class. Protests against the film have erupted in various parts of Uttar Pradesh, with demonstrators chanting slogans and burning posters.

The Yadav community has expressed that the title and narrative of the film undermine their dignity. Calls for a ban on the film have also gained traction on social media, targeting the lead actors. Pragati Tiwari, who plays a leading role, defended the film, asserting that it does not contain any content that would disrespect any community. However, the court’s decision has clarified that there is nothing unconstitutional about the film. The censor board had previously granted it a release certificate.
