Sudharsan-Gill Duo Sets Record Partnership Against RCB

Bengaluru, April 25: In an exciting clash on Friday, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced off against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 34th match of IPL 2026. At the M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, the opening pair of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill established a remarkable record for the highest partnership against RCB.

Sudharsan and Gill put together an impressive 128 runs for the first wicket in just 12.4 overs. This partnership marks the largest ever for GT against RCB in IPL history.

Sudharsan showcased an aggressive batting style from the start, while captain Gill anchored the innings. Gill scored 32 runs off 24 balls, hitting two fours and a six.

On the other hand, Sudharsan achieved his third IPL century, scoring a powerful 100 runs off 58 balls. With a strike rate of 172, he smashed 11 fours and 5 sixes, leaving RCB’s bowlers struggling to contain him.

This partnership between Sudharsan and Gill is their fifth century stand in IPL history. The record for the most century partnerships for the first wicket is held by David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan, who accomplished this feat six times.

During this innings, Sudharsan also crossed the 2000-run milestone in IPL, becoming the fastest player to reach this mark. He achieved this in just 47 innings, surpassing Chris Gayle, who took 48 innings to reach the same milestone.

For this match, Gujarat Titans made two changes to their playing XI. Jason Holder was included in the squad for the first time this season, while Manav Suthar made his return.
