Subhash Ghai Emphasizes Directors Vision Over Star Power in Film Success

Mumbai, May 19: Subhash Ghai has established himself as one of the finest directors in Hindi cinema, known for delivering remarkable films. On Tuesday, he shared his thoughts on the changing landscape of the film industry through a social media post.

In an Instagram post, Ghai shared a picture and stated, “The true strength of cinema seen on the big screen lies solely in the director’s thought, imagination, and vision. This is an old and real truth of the film industry that perhaps cannot be changed.”

Expressing concern about contemporary films, he remarked, “Nowadays, we are quickly forgetting the art of filmmaking. We are merely chasing money and star power. This is why films are facing dire consequences today.”

He explained that good films cannot be made solely on the basis of heavy budgets or big stars. A successful film requires a compelling story and a skilled director to bring it to life on screen.

Ghai mentioned his production company, Mukta Arts, stating, “My company has always trusted directors who can turn any ordinary story into an enjoyable and memorable experience for audiences. Therefore, our first choice will always be a sensible director who understands the beauty of cinema. Everything else comes after that. The time for directors is returning.”

Known for the splendid music and grand sets in his films, Ghai’s songs from movies like ‘Taal’ and ‘Pardes’ remain immensely popular. He has provided excellent roles to both new and established artists, including launching Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Seshadri in Bollywood through his film ‘Hero.’

In addition to filmmaking, Subhash Ghai founded his own production company, Mukta Arts Limited. He is also the founder and chairman of the renowned film institute, Whistling Woods International, located in Mumbai, which offers education in film and media.
