Students evacuated from Sumy to board flights to India tomorrow

New Delhi, March 9 : The Indian students evacuated from Sumy are expected to board evacuation flights to India tomorrow, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine said on Wednesday. Indian Ambassador Partha Satpathy flagged off a train with 600 Indian students at Lviv Railway Station earlier in the day. The train will take the students directly to Poland from where they would board flights to India. The students reached Lviv from Lokhvytsia, on board a special train organised by the Ukrainian authorities. They were evacuated on buses from Sumy on Tuesday. In tweets the Indian Embassy in Kyiv said: “Ambassador flags off special train with 600 Indian students from Sumy versity at Lviv Railway Station. They will travel to Poland and are expected to board evacuation flights to India tomorrow. Be Safe Be Strong.” “Indian students from Sumy on board the special train organised with assistance of Ukrainian authorities. Mission will continue to facilitate their movement westwards. Bringing back our students safely and securely will remain our priority. Be Safe Be Strong.” Separately, the Indian Embassy in Romania said in a tweet that a second tranche of humanitarian aid from India to Ukraine which arrived in Bucharest today by an IAF flight was handed over to Romanian authorities for onward transmission to Ukraine.
