Stoinis and Prabhsimran Shine as PBKS Posts 222 Against RR

New Chandigarh, April 29: In the 40th match of IPL 2026, Punjab Kings (PBKS) faced off against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. Batting first, PBKS scored an impressive 222 runs while losing 4 wickets.

After losing the toss, PBKS started strong. The opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran shared a quick 37 runs in just 2.5 overs. Priyansh was dismissed for 29 runs off 11 balls, while Cooper Connolly contributed 30 runs off 14 deliveries.

Prabhsimran Singh continued his excellent form, scoring a powerful 59 runs off 44 balls, including 6 fours and a six. Captain Shreyas Iyer also made a notable contribution, scoring 30 runs from 27 balls with the help of a four and a six.

In the final overs, Marcus Stoinis played a blistering innings, remaining unbeaten on 62 runs from just 22 balls. He struck 4 fours and 6 towering sixes. Alongside Suryansh, who scored 3 runs, Stoinis forged a partnership of 41 runs for the fifth wicket in just 12 balls. Stoinis notably scored 24 runs in the last over against Brijesh Sharma.

For Rajasthan Royals, Yash Raj Poonja was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 41 runs in 4 overs. Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger each claimed one wicket.

Under the captaincy of Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals featured players like Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Donovan Ferreira, Ravindra Jadeja, Dasun Shanaka, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, Brijesh Sharma, and Yash Raj Poonja.

Punjab Kings, led by Shreyas Iyer, included Prabhsimran Singh (wicketkeeper), Priyansh Arya, Cooper Connolly, Suryansh Shedge, Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal in their lineup.
