Information minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that Reserve Bank of India regulated and supervised financial institution Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) was appointed as the facilitator for managing loans to the unemployed youths, which is expected to be implemented in the second quarter of the current fiscal. To begin with the scheme Tripura government contributed Rs 15 Cr while SIDBI will manage Rs 10 Cr and rest Rs 25 Cr will be procured from different PSUs functioning in the state, Chowdhury said and added previously although unemployed youths had the intention to become self-sufficient, the procedure of getting finances was very tough and the interest rate also very high. This report will be evaluated and analysed considering the viability of the project before taking the final decision.” The minister, however, underlined that besides opening the option of a self-reliance scheme, the state government has decided to fill up 539 posts of Graduate and Post Graduate Teachers in Secondary schools very soon.
