SSB Recruitment 2026: Applications Open for 404 Constable Positions Under Sports Quota

New Delhi, May 9: The Ministry of Home Affairs, under the Government of India, has announced the recruitment of 404 constable positions (General Duty) in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) for both male and female candidates under the sports quota.

The vacancies include various sports disciplines: 14 for Archery, 42 for Athletics, 14 for Aquatic Sports (Swimming, Diving), 18 for Boxing, 21 for Basketball, 6 for Badminton, 4 for Cycling, 5 for Equestrian, 10 for Fencing, 22 for Football, 4 for Gymnastics, 28 for Hockey, 16 for Handball, 12 for Judo, 12 for Kabaddi, 14 for Karate, 13 for Kayaking, 14 for Canoeing, 16 for Pencak Silat, 4 for Powerlifting, 13 for Rowing, 4 for Shooting, 6 for Table Tennis, 16 for Taekwondo, 14 for Volleyball, 27 for Wrestling, 16 for Wushu, 13 for Weightlifting, and 6 for Yoga.

The online application process began on Saturday and will close on June 7. Candidates interested in applying are advised to submit their registration forms on the official website within the specified timeframe.

Applicants must have completed matriculation or an equivalent qualification from a recognized board or institution. Eligible players must have represented their state in national or international competitions, or be medal winners in senior/junior national championships, Khelo India Youth Games (for those over 18), Khelo India Winter Games, Khelo India Para Games, Khelo India University Games, or School Games Federation of India (SGFI) events.

The minimum age for candidates is set at 18 years, while the maximum age is 23 years, calculated based on the application deadline. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per regulations.

Selection will be based on Phase-I and Phase-II, which include document verification, assessment of sports achievements (points based on medals/participation), field trials/skill tests, physical standard tests (PST), detailed medical examinations (DME), and, if necessary, review medical examinations (RME). The final merit list will be prepared accordingly. Selected candidates will receive a salary ranging from ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 per month, along with additional benefits and allowances.

During the application process, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee online, which is set at ₹100 for UR/EWS/OBC candidates. Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and female candidates are exempt from the registration fee.

To apply online, candidates should first visit the official SSB website. After reaching the homepage, they should click on the active application link for the relevant position. They will then need to register and log in. All required information must be filled in, and documents should be uploaded in the correct size. After paying the registration fee, candidates should submit the form and keep a printed copy for future reference.
