Lucknow, May 9: Dimple Yadav, a Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party (SP), has called for the Election Commission to share live footage from counting centers during the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
This demand follows allegations of irregularities in the counting process during the recently concluded West Bengal Assembly elections, as raised by Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee.
Yadav emphasized that sharing live footage is not a new concept from a technical standpoint. She pointed out that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claims to be technologically advanced.
Regarding the meeting between SP President Akhilesh Yadav and former West Bengal Chief Minister Banerjee, Dimple Yadav noted that the SP has always maintained a good relationship with the Trinamool Congress.
Reiterating accusations of bias against the Election Commission, she stated that there are no remaining expectations from the body, which she claims operates entirely in favor of the BJP due to its protection.
Dimple Yadav also referenced the deployment of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) during the West Bengal elections, stating that a similar atmosphere of fear exists in Uttar Pradesh during elections. She alleged that party workers are intimidated, and booth agents are prevented from reaching their designated polling stations.
She accused the BJP of employing tactics in Uttar Pradesh similar to those used in West Bengal to gain power.
Discussing the SP’s plans for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections, Dimple Yadav stated that the party aims to work closely with backward classes, Dalits, and minority communities.
She further claimed that the situation for women in Uttar Pradesh is dire.
