SP Criticizes BJP Over MLC Election Results, Claims Days of Government Are Numbered

The SP accuses BJP of election misconduct in the recent MLC polls, hinting at dwindling support for the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions are escalating in Uttar Pradesh following the results of the MLC elections held via ballot paper. Leaders from the Samajwadi Party (SP) have launched sharp critiques against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), questioning the election process, alleged misuse of administration, and the government’s policies.

SP spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand accused the BJP of failing to address questions regarding their defeat in Uttar Pradesh. He pointed out that while the BJP celebrates Congress’s losses, it remains silent on its own poor performance and the results from Varanasi. “Those who find joy in others’ misfortunes should be allowed to do so. However, the BJP must explain why it faced defeat in Uttar Pradesh,” he stated.

Chand further alleged that the BJP slowed down the voting process during the elections and claimed that party workers attempted to misuse administrative power to influence the outcomes in certain areas.

Awdhesh Prasad, an SP MP from Ayodhya, interpreted the election results as a clear signal of public discontent with the BJP government. He remarked that the results indicate the BJP’s days are numbered, asserting that citizens from all walks of life are dissatisfied with the government’s policies and decisions. “The BJP will only remain in power until the next election announcement,” he asserted.

Prasad also defended senior SP leader Azam Khan, emphasizing the party’s support for him and linking the government’s actions to its overall mentality.

Regarding Congress’s performance, SP leader Ashutosh Verma noted that the internal matters of Congress concerning their wins and losses are irrelevant to the SP. The party secured victories in five out of the eleven seats allocated to it. Verma highlighted that in areas where some candidates received fewer than 2,000 votes, SP candidates won by margins of 17,000 to 18,000 votes. He attributed this success to the party’s strong organizational preparation.

Verma reiterated the importance of winning, as emphasized by SP President Akhilesh Yadav, stating that the focus should not just be on the number of seats but on achieving victory.

In Varanasi, MP Virendra Singh confirmed that the SP candidate won by more than 17,000 votes, with only the certificate remaining to be issued. He mentioned that under the direction of national president Akhilesh Yadav, party workers, legislators, and other members have been vigilantly present at the counting centers for the past 24 hours, maintaining discipline and monitoring the election process.
