Mumbai, May 5: Harshvardhan Sapkal, the president of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, stated on Monday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) resorted to deception, inducements, pressure, and divisive tactics in the assembly elections across five states. However, the people of South India have rejected the BJP’s toxic, divisive ideology, as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Reacting to the assembly election results, Sapkal remarked that the Narendra Modi government in West Bengal disregarded all boundaries, traditions, and rules with the assistance of the Election Commission of India.
In West Bengal, agencies such as the NIA, CRPF, and encounter specialists were deployed, and oppressive measures were implemented. The BJP allegedly secured victory in West Bengal through questionable practices, but this ‘toxic power’ proved ineffective in South India, nor did Modi’s leadership resonate there.
Sapkal further emphasized that the Congress party’s victory in Kerala symbolizes a triumph for democracy and the Constitution. The people of Kerala have expressed their trust in the Congress ideology and in Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.
He expressed confidence that the Congress ideology is the key to saving the nation, and Kerala’s victory has infused tremendous enthusiasm among party workers across India—an energy that will strengthen the party in the times to come.
Meanwhile, state Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant commented on the BJP leaders expressing joy over their success in the birthplace of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of the Janata Party.
He noted that Mukherjee was the same individual who wrote to the British Governor to suppress the Quit India Movement in 1942. It is unfortunate that the extremist ideology, which Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose vehemently opposed, has now infiltrated his birthplace.
