South Africa Announces Women’s White-Ball Squad for Pakistan Series, Reneke Debuts in T20s

Johannesburg: South Africa has named its women’s white-ball squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan, with former under-19 captain Kayla Reneke earning her first call-up to the T20 team.

The 20-year-old Reneke represents Western Province in domestic cricket. She played a key role in South Africa’s runner-up finish at the 2025 Under-19 T20 World Cup.

Reneke has been included in the T20 squad led by captain Laura Wolvaardt. The team also features experienced players such as Marizanne Kapp, Chloe Tryon, Nadine de Klerk, Dane van Niekerk, Suné Luus, and Ayabonga Khaka.

The squad sees the return of wicketkeepers Sinalo Jafta and Karabo Meso, spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba, and all-rounder Anneke Bosch. Meanwhile, Tazmin Brits and Ayanda Hlubi have been recalled after missing the Ireland series.

South Africa will assemble in Potchefstroom on 5 February ahead of the T20 series scheduled from 10 to 16 February. This series is a crucial part of their preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England.

The teams will then contest three One Day Internationals between 22 February and 1 March. The ODI series will mark the start of South Africa’s campaign in the ICC Women’s Championship cycle, which counts towards qualification for the 2029 Women’s World Cup.

Four changes have been made to the ODI squad, with Lara Goodall, Faye Tunnicliffe, Nondumiso Shangase, and Tumi Sekhukhune replacing Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Kayla Reneke, and Dane van Niekerk.
