Bengaluru, March 4: A significant issue has resurfaced in the film industry, often overlooked despite ongoing discussions. During public events, film promotions, and award shows, images and videos of female artists are sometimes captured from angles that are deemed uncomfortable and inappropriate.
Recently, several actresses from the South Indian film industry have raised their voices against this practice. They have made it clear that they will not tolerate deliberate zoom-ins and improper angles.
Actresses Rukmini Vasant, Ashika Ranganath, and Sapthami Gowda issued a joint statement on their social media accounts, condemning this behavior.
They stated, “At public events, the images and videos of female artists are often taken from deliberately wrong angles. The camera focuses not on their work, achievements, or the purpose of the event, but rather on their bodies. This is not an isolated incident but a recurring issue.”
The actresses firmly declared, “Such intentional zoom-ins and inappropriate angles are completely unacceptable. This behavior violates our dignity and cannot be normalized. Some individuals record and share such clips for views and sensationalism, which is not only disrespectful but also undermines women’s professional identities. We want to be recognized for our cinema and talent, not for these misrepresentations.”
They also appealed to media professionals, including photographers and videographers covering events, to maintain professional conduct. They emphasized, “Journalism and media should be conducted with respect and responsibility. Basic decency and decorum are hallmarks of every profession. We stand united on this issue and will not tolerate any such actions.”
