New Delhi, May 13: Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Tuesday night for routine medical examinations. She was discharged the following morning.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh provided updates on her condition, stating that she is stable and has returned home after her check-up.
Recently, Sonia Gandhi’s frequent hospital visits have raised concerns about her health among party members and supporters alike.
Two months ago, the 79-year-old leader was hospitalized at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi due to complaints of nausea and vomiting. At that time, the hospital reported that she was being treated for a systemic infection and responded well to antibiotics. After treatment for fever and body infection, she was discharged after spending nearly a week in the hospital.
In June of last year, Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital in Shimla due to high blood pressure while on a private visit to Himachal Pradesh with her daughter, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
She has also been hospitalized previously for a respiratory fungal infection caused by high pollution levels in Delhi, which required medical attention.
Having turned 79 last December, Sonia Gandhi is currently a member of the Rajya Sabha representing Rajasthan. Before her current role, she served five terms as a Member of Parliament from the Lok Sabha seats of Amethi and Rae Bareli. She has also completed two terms as the party president.
