Sonam Wangchuk Voices Support for Accountability Movements in India

Activist Sonam Wangchuk expresses support for accountability movements while focusing on justice for Ladakh amid rising concerns.

New Delhi, September 27 (Daily Kiran) : Social activist Sonam Wangchuk has expressed his backing for various accountability movements in India. His comments came in response to the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Wangchuk noted that the CJP is capable of raising numerous important issues.

“I empathize with and support all leaders and organizations advocating for accountability in the country,” he stated. However, he acknowledged that it is not feasible to be involved in every movement at all times.

Discussing the CJP’s announcement regarding Gyanesh Kumar, Wangchuk said, “I have always wanted capable individuals to address various issues. When they were new and needed my support, I assisted them in the education movement. Now, they are capable of raising many issues. While I wish them well, I cannot support every cause, as I am currently focused on seeking justice for Ladakh.”

On the first anniversary of the violence in Ladakh, Wangchuk remarked, “I want to emphasize that discussions were mentioned for early October. However, our trust is gradually diminishing as things remain unchanged. We hope to hear something by October 2 that will restore our faith in the government’s commitment to making positive changes. Otherwise, we will continue our peaceful protests and utilize other non-violent means available to us.”
