Mumbai, April 8: Actress and former Union Minister Smriti Irani frequently shares her thoughts on significant national and global issues. Recently, she discussed her aspirations and wish list, emphasizing the need for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to contribute to India’s progress amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.
In a video shared on Instagram, Irani highlighted the importance of NRIs supporting those connected to India. She stated, “I know many of you have gone abroad in search of better opportunities. The current geopolitical situation is quite tense. As a politician, I do not want any NRI or Indian to be caught in gunfire or danger.”
She encouraged NRIs to act like good mentors, helping as many Indians as possible. Irani urged them to collaborate in research, assist in technology, and invest in small businesses if they have the means.
“I am a strategic advisor to the Confederation of All India Small Traders. We are a collective of 40,000 trade associations and 80 million small traders. It is these small traders and manufacturers who often struggle to connect with larger investors,” she explained.
Irani believes that small traders and women entrepreneurs are the true strength of India. If funds from large investors reach them, the economy will strengthen, and job opportunities for youth will increase.
She emphasized, “If you genuinely want to contribute to the country, seek out innovators who do not know how to bring their ideas to market. Especially if they are women, make sure to assist them.”
Irani reiterated that if there is money available for investment, it should be directed towards small businesses.
