Small Details Made a Big Difference in the Match: Daniel Vettori

Jaipur, April 26: In the 36th match of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by five wickets on Saturday. After the victory at Sawai Mansingh Cricket Stadium, SRH’s head coach, Daniel Vettori, emphasized that small details made a significant impact on the team’s success.

Rajasthan Royals batted first, scoring 228 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. Vaibhav Suryaanshi delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 103 runs off 37 balls, while Dhruv Jurel contributed 51 runs. Although RR started strong, SRH’s bowlers made a commendable comeback in the final overs.

In a video shared on SRH’s social media account ‘X’, Vettori praised Prabhul Hinge for his exceptional bowling. He noted that after initially conceding runs, Hinge returned to bowl tightly in the death overs, which was crucial for the team’s victory. Chasing a target of 229 runs, SRH had a shaky start, losing Travis Head for just 6 runs.

However, Abhishek Sharma (57 runs) and Ishan Kishan (74 runs) formed a vital partnership, scoring 132 runs off just 55 balls with an aggressive approach. Heinrich Klaasen (29 runs) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (36 runs) also made significant contributions, leading SRH to their fifth win of the season.

Vettori credited Nitish Kumar Reddy for maintaining the run rate during the chase. He stated, “In terms of batting, Nitish delivered an outstanding performance in this match. From the moment he stepped onto the field, he exhibited tremendous energy and intent. While we had a good start, Nitish completely alleviated all the pressures that arose during the match with his batting. It was truly a fantastic innings.”

Highlighting the team’s collective effort, Vettori stressed how small yet impactful moments determined the match’s outcome. He added, “There were small things at the beginning and end of the innings that significantly contributed to our victory.” With this win against Rajasthan Royals, SRH has climbed to third place in the points table, accumulating 10 points from 8 matches. SRH’s next match is scheduled against Mumbai Indians on April 29.
