Six new Cabinet ministers sworn in Manipur

Imphal, April 16 : The N Biren Singh government was expanded with the induction of six Cabinet ministers on Saturday. Governor La Ganesan administered the oath of secrecy in a function held at Raj Bhawan. Five were of the BJP and one of NPF. The ministers were Letpao Haokip, Dr S Ranjan, L Susindro, K Robindro, Th Basanta and Khashim Ruivah (NPF). Letpao Haokip was the only one who had served in the previous Biren Singh government. The other five were first time ministers.Letpao had won as a member of National People’s Party (NPP) in the last Assembly and served as Youth Affairs and sports minister. He won this time as a candidate of BJP from Tengnoupal. He completed his graduation in Political Science from Maharaj Bodhachandra College, Imphal in 1999.Leishangthem Susindro Meitei aged 38 of Khurai won for the second time as a BJP candidate. He completed his Higher Secondary examination in 2001 from Ng Mani College. Dr Sapam Ranjan aged 49 had won from Konthoujam. He did his MBBS from SMS College, Jaipur in 1999 and MD in 2005. He had earlier won as a Congress candidate and later won as BJP candidates in 2017 and 2022.Konkham Robindro aged 34 won from Mayang Imphal and completed his Post Graduation in Business Administration from Anglia Ruskin versity, UK in 2012.Thounaojam Basantakumar Singh aged 57 years won for the first time from Nambol and served as an IPS officer and took voluntary retirement. He is the son of former on Minister Th Chaoba. He completed MA History from St Stephens Colleege, Delhi versity in 1987 and LLB from MU in 2002.Khashim Vashum aged 58 won from Chingai as a candidate of Naga people’s Front (NPF) . he is a graduate from Zakir Hussain College, DU 1985. On March 21 last Nongthombam Biren Singh took oath as the Chief Minister of Manipur for the second consecutive time with five other ministers, Th Biswajit, Y Khemchand, K Govindas, Nemcha Kipgen and Awangbow Newmai (NPF).
