Bhagalpur, Mar 4 : Six people were killed and twelve others were injured following a huge explosion in a building in Kajwalichak locality in the district on Thursday night. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Bhagalpur range Sujeet Kumar said that a three-storey building collapsed in no time after a huge explosion last night. Six people died on the spot while 12 others sustained injuries in the incident, he added. Kumar said that all the injured were rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital, Bhagalpur where the condition of some of them was stated to be critical. Relief and rescue operation was launched by the officials of district administration soon after the incident, he added. DIG said that debris of the collapsed building was being cleared. The number of victims could increase further after total debris was cleared, he added. Kumar said that two nearby buildings also got damaged in the incident. A team of Forensic Science Lab (FSL) had also reached on the spot to collect samples for forensic testing, he added DIG said that preliminary investigation suggested that the building was being used for illegal manufacturing and crude bombs. Those running the illegal activities of manufacturing crackers and bombs would be nabbed soon, he stated. XC KKS RN
