Lucknow, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Lucknow has apprehended six individuals involved in illegal drug trafficking. The operation, conducted on September 4, resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of banned substances, along with mobile phones and cash.
The initiative was overseen by the Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh, along with the Additional Director General of Law and Order and the Additional Director General of Crime, under the guidance of the Inspector General of the ANTF.
Among those arrested are Lucknow residents Lakshit Vaswani, Sameer Ahmed, Shad Irshad, Umesh Kumar, and Azamgarh’s Satendra Singh and Vishal Chaurasia. They were caught at Kanhaiya Pharma Transporting in the Lucknow Commissionerate.
Authorities recovered 720 bottles of codeine cough syrup, 130,000 capsules of tramadol hydrochloride, and 9.6 million tablets of alprazolam from the suspects. The estimated value of these drugs is around ₹71,44,180. Additionally, seven mobile phones and ₹11,140 in cash were confiscated.
During interrogation, the suspects revealed that they pooled their resources to clandestinely buy and sell illegal narcotics. They delivered these substances to parties for higher profits, which they then shared among themselves to meet their needs.
The police have gathered significant information from the suspects and are now pursuing leads to identify other accomplices involved in this illicit operation. A case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Sarojini Nagar police station in Lucknow. Legal proceedings are ongoing.
The operation was executed by the ANTF unit in Lucknow, with contributions from officers including Sub-Inspector Suraj Singh, Head Constable Deepak Kumar, and others. Drug inspectors Vivek Kumar Singh and Sandesh Maurya also assisted in the operation.
