New Delhi, October 23 (Daily Kiran): In a high-voltage joint encounter late last night in Rohini, Delhi, police gunned down four most-wanted gangsters belonging to Bihar’s notorious “Sigma & Company” gang. The operation, carried out jointly by the Delhi Police Crime Branch and Bihar Police, ended a long-running manhunt for the dreaded criminals who were allegedly planning to spread terror ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.

The encounter began around 2:20 AM on Bahadur Shah Marg, when the gangsters opened fire on the police team. In retaliation, the police fired back, killing all four on the spot. The bodies were taken to Dr. BSA Hospital, Rohini, where doctors confirmed their deaths.
Who were the gangsters?
The deceased were identified as Ranjan Pathak (25), Bimlesh Mahto (25), Manish Pathak (33) — all residents of Sitamarhi, Bihar, and Aman Thakur (21), a native of Karawal Nagar, Delhi. According to the police, the Sigma & Company gang was involved in several serious criminal activities across Bihar and Nepal, with Ranjan Pathak being the ringleader known for his brutality and audacity.
The rise and fall of Ranjan Pathak
Ranjan Pathak had earlier made headlines in Bihar after committing a sensational murder in Sitamarhi and then sending his “criminal résumé” to journalists, flaunting his exploits. Recently, police obtained an audio call recording that revealed the gang’s plans to create chaos before the Bihar elections, prompting intensified surveillance.
Joint operation ends months-long chase
Both Delhi and Bihar Police had been tracking the Sigma gang for months due to their involvement in multiple heinous crimes. Acting on precise intelligence, the joint team executed the overnight operation. According to officials, the gangsters initiated gunfire, forcing the police to respond in self-defence. The operation is being hailed as a major success against organized crime in both states.
Political terror plot foiled
Sources in Bihar Police confirmed that the gang intended to spread fear in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. The recovered audio evidence exposed their dangerous plans, leading to the coordinated crackdown that ultimately neutralized the gang
