Mumbai, February 5: A shooting incident at the residence of renowned filmmaker Rohit Shetty in Juhu has raised serious questions about security measures. The Mumbai Crime Branch is actively investigating this high-profile case, with new developments emerging regularly. Recently, the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch arrested another suspect linked to the case.
According to police reports, the suspect, identified as Asharam Fasile, was apprehended in Pune. He is accused of providing a firearm to the shooter. With this arrest, the total number of suspects in custody has reached five. All five will be presented in court on Thursday, where police will seek to obtain their remand.
It is important to note that the police custody period for the previously arrested four suspects ends today.
However, the main shooter involved in the attack on Rohit Shetty’s home remains at large. Multiple teams from the Mumbai Crime Branch are conducting raids in various locations in search of him. Authorities believe that the shooter may have fled the city.
The attack on Shetty’s residence was premeditated. The suspects conducted surveillance of his home and the surrounding area for several days before waiting for the right moment to open fire. Following the incident, the shooter quickly escaped the scene. CCTV footage captured him fleeing on a scooter, which has aided police in their investigation.
Investigations have revealed that the scooter used in the crime was brought in from Pune, and several individuals were involved in the operation. Some suspects were responsible solely for transporting the scooter, while others were involved in planning the entire operation and arranging funds. Notably, some of the arrested suspects claimed they were unaware that Rohit Shetty’s home was the intended target.
In response to the shooting, police have taken stringent measures to enhance Rohit Shetty’s security. Increased security personnel have been deployed around his home and its vicinity.
