Chennai, August 29: A woman was brutally murdered near Guduvancheri, Chennai. The perpetrators dismembered her body and cooked some parts with vegetables and flour in a biryani pot. In a sensational twist, a special police team has arrested a couple who fled from Manipur in connection with the crime.
The case came to light when an abandoned suitcase was found at Agra Railway Station, containing the severed body parts of the woman. Upon investigation, police discovered a plastic cover inside the suitcase with the name of a well-known textile company from Chennai. This led them to focus their attention on the city.
Authorities examined over 350 CCTV cameras in Chennai and surrounding areas. They identified a couple who had placed the suitcase on the train before heading to Guduvancheri. Subsequently, police visited the rented accommodation of the couple, where they found the remaining parts of the body.
Investigations revealed that after cooking some body parts, the couple stored the rest in the suitcase and attempted to flee. The deceased woman has been identified as Haithul Nisha, who worked at a private company near Tambaram.
The special police team first apprehended 21-year-old Manik Laskar from Odisha, who was hiding in Manipur after the murder. His wife, Bhagamati Majhi, was also arrested shortly after. Initial inquiries indicated that Haithul Nisha and Manik Laskar had met through work, and their relationship later turned into an illicit affair.
When Manik’s wife discovered this, she objected, leading to a heated argument. The couple then conspired to murder Haithul Nisha. To destroy evidence, they dismembered her body. Police are conducting rigorous questioning of the arrested couple, and further investigations are ongoing.
