Chaibasa, February 18: A horrifying incident has emerged from the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. Late Tuesday night, a woman and her innocent child were allegedly doused in petrol and set ablaze on suspicion of witchcraft in the Kumarudungi police area.
Both the mother and child died at the scene, while the woman’s husband suffered severe burns. He has been admitted to a nearby hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical. The police learned of the incident on Wednesday when 12 suspects voluntarily surrendered at the station.
Initial reports from the police indicate that a group of around 12 villagers collaborated to commit this heinous act. It is believed that rumors regarding illness and other incidents had been circulating in the village, with the woman and her family being blamed.
