Shocking Incident in Banda: School Children Forced to Work in Viral Video

Banda, May 2: A disturbing incident has emerged from Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, where junior high school students were allegedly forced into labor. A viral video on social media shows students in school uniforms transporting sand, raising serious concerns about the education department‘s practices.

The incident reportedly took place in the Achraund Gram Panchayat of Banda district. The viral footage depicts several children using shovels and containers to fill sand. This task is neither appropriate for children nor legally permissible. Allegations suggest that the school administration, including some teachers, were involved in this exploitation.

The video was recorded by a man named Mahendra, whose children, Riansh and Rianshi, attend the same junior high school. He claims that children are coerced into labor and face discrimination at the school.

Mahendra stated, “My children go to school to learn, but they are being made to work. I urge the government and administration to investigate this matter and take strict action against those responsible.”

Following this incident, local residents and social media users have expressed significant outrage. Many are demanding strict action against those involved. Forcing children to work, whether inside or outside the school, is not only wrong but also a criminal offense under the law.

In response to these allegations, District Basic Education Officer Avyakt Ram Tiwari mentioned that all schools were closed on Friday. He also noted that he was not aware of the viral video. If such a video comes to light, an investigation will be conducted, and appropriate action will follow.

However, employing children aged 6 to 12 years is illegal. Despite this, there are claims that some teachers in various schools are making children work.
